Stair Chair.

In collaboration with Prima Materia for London Design Festival the Stair Chair was designed and built using salvaged materials from the staircase of Selkirk House, Museum Street, WC1A 1JU - a 1960s tower block in central London.

The Stair Chair is constructed using mahogany and aluminium from the original 1960s staircase recovered from Selkirk House. Retaining much of the original geometry and patina the lounge chair’s angles echo the diagonals of its previous life.

The chair is made using a combination of dowel jointing and the original mechanical architecture of the aluminium handrail.

Stair Stand.

Standing between furniture and sculpture. Made from the mahogany banisters and upright balusters of the original 1960s staircase, Stair Stand invites the sitter to put down a drink when in proximity and exists as a sculpture when standing alone. The upright baluster implies purpose, displaying the futuristic 1960s forms while providing a place to hang your coat.
